They Got Tied at the Hitchin Post (& a couple other things)

The past weekend another favorite cousin of mine got married. Z married the girl of his dreams P.

The ceremony was held in their back yard. The alter represents a hitching post, with hay bales for seating the wedding guests.

P & her Dad rode up to the ceremonial area on horseback. Yes, horseback.

It was a very simple but beautiful ceremony with the guys wearing khakis, white shirts & suspenders & the girls in simple dresses in various colors. P's little 3 year old daughter & Z's 7 year old step son also participated. Brother Jimmy married them. He performs most weddings & funerals for my family so he repeats himself a bit, which is ok. After announcing the couple husband & wife he always states "Now you can kiss your bride like your mama ain't watching".

At the end of the service the bride & groom rode off on horseback, into the sunset.

It was a lovely weekend with this obviously being the highlight.

In other news, the property got mowed & we actually fished from the boat on Sunday, catching our dinner for the night. Fried bass, coleslaw & broccoli salad, along with hush puppies made for a fine meal that the in-laws came over & shared.

I caught the big one & the little one!
And lastly, my niece got a new puppy. A silver lab. Isn't she precious?

Kymber,

No pic of the finished supper, we ate it too fast. You guys should come down for a vacation. It's only a hop, skip & a jump. There are bass, bream & catfish in that body of water. And, there are a few streams close by with more bream in them that we have access. Would love to have you. Maybe we can even convince Stephen to come down for a day or so. And, we are getting close to retiring ... shhhh ... don't tell anyone.

Nice looking Fish there. I love bass fishing and eating :)

Good thing I am not around that little lab pup. I have a real soft spot for Lab puppies and I might try and steal it..... and the fish :)

Hey PP I have thought about kidnaping that sweet pup myself. the niece is a busy girl with school & work & her parents have said they WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF HER if she gets tired of doing it (yeah right). I may have to go in stealth mode & bring her home w/me. I never knew you could eat bass until about 10 years ago. They are delicious & fun to catch. Come on down, the pond never sleeps.

Cannot have been easy getting up on a horse in a wedding dress :)

What a delightful wedding - simple and meaningful. Would that more people would save their money for their futures, instead of spending it on the one day event. Bravo to Z & P :D

I was part of a wedding last year like this, except the bride and groom drove of in a tractor!

Dani, She practiced for weeks.

John, That could also very well happen in our neck of the woods.

DFW,

I love country weddings, this one was gorgeous! Congratulations to Z and P!!!!
Fishing is so much fun, very relaxing, and enjoyable with the ones you love. Those fish look amazing girl, I bet they tasted delicious too.

What a beautiful puppy, I've never seen a silver lab. I've seen silver Chihuahua's.

Thanks Sandy, It was a beautiful wedding. I love to fish, we hardly ever make the time. I usually jerk the hook out of the bass' mouth but not this time! Sadie is a sweetie.

Sadie is so cute! And the wedding. The photos brought a smile to my place. Glad to hear it went well and that things are going well on your country place as well.

I adore weddings that are unique and personalized by the bride and groom. I think it means so much more to the participants on the day and to look back on in the future. Thanks for sharing the great pictures.

How can anyone not want to cuddle a puppy?!

Thanks Leigh.

Not to mention that it costs a whole lot less this way, Mama Pea. Yes, that puppy is cuddly & rambunctious(sp?) at times.

That wedding reminds me of mine. We rode out on horseback too. Sounds like you've been pretty busy!

SFG, I bet your wedding was beautiful as well. Yes, we have a lot going on right now, typical summer for us.
