Evans County PFA (County) 6/16/26 - 6/19/26 (#32)

We went to Evans County again (been twice before). Our last trip before taking the camper in for warranty work & a couple of minor issues & one major (levelling).

We had been a couple of times before, you can read about the CG here Evans County PFA. They have added several new FHU sites & we opted to stay in one of those (#27) which backed up to #9 where we stayed previously.

We arrived on Tuesday & were very worried about it being too hot, but lucked out on Tues. & Wed. with only passing light showers, plenty of clouds & a good breeze. The wind helped tremendously with both the temp as well as keeping the gnats away.

Greg fished a little one day, otherwise we just relaxed. It rained off & on all day Thursday & were woken up by thunderstorms around 3:00a on Friday morning.

Our purpose for headed to that area of Georgia was to stop by the cemetery where Greg's sister & Dad are laid to rest. We had ordered a VA plaque to be placed on the gravesite & wanted to take a picture for Greg's Mom.

We had to wait out the remaining showers but were able to leave around noon on Friday. We were a bit worried about finding the cemetery because it is literally in the middle of nowhere & there isn't an actual address. But, I contacted the funeral home director & he told us the road it was on & once we got to the turn off, it was easy to find. After a brief visit we headed home.

We'll get the camper cleaned out & cleaned in the next couple of weeks before taking it to a dealer about 3 hours away. I'll wait to get an estimate of how long they will have it in service before making any fall reservations. Until then, we'll be fighting the heat & gnats here, for the rest of the summer.

Hanna Park (City) 4/12/26 - 4/15/26 (#31)

We had to head back to Jax to get Bennie spayed (by our Jax Vet). Even though the house had not yet sold, it was prepped for sale & didn't feel we should stay there. So, we decided to stay at a City Park that was only about four miles from our house, when we lived there. 

This park is huge & has easy access to the ocean. My sister & family had always camped there on July 4th for many years & we visited often but had never camped there. So instead of getting a hotel room (expensive for two dogs!) we decided to take the camper. The sites are more closely situated than what we are used to but it was very convenient to both our old neighborhood & Vet. We had site #279. 

There was enough foliage to be 'slightly' private from neighbors. But, as you can see, we had to put up a barrier of beach towels so our dogs couldn't see the dogs next door. 

Bennie's surgery wasn't until Tuesday so we decided to go for a walk on the beach the next morning & there is also a beautiful lake (no swimming) with many picnic areas around it. There were several 'home school' groups there & the weather was quite beautiful.

After our walk, we visited old neighbors & the couple that bought our house. It was great seeing everyone but the old neighborhood just isn't the same....

The next day we dropped of both Bennie (for Spay) & Coco for her annual & ran errands around Jax. It sure is different driving around Jax, after living in the GA countryside. Traffic is horrendous! I wouldn't trade where we live now, for anything.

We departed the next day & headed back to GA so we could attend Mom's assisted living facility's annual 'family' picnic on Thursday. It's so nice to be able to visit her on a regular basis. 

Okay, I think that catches us up on camping trips....

P.S. - The house sold on 4/30, yeah No more 'having' to go back to Jax in the near future.

R Shaefer Heard (COE ) 4/6/26 - 4/9/26 (#30)

Decided to take a trip to another one of our favorite parks. 

We put Greg's Mom's house on the market & had removed what we wanted & what we could give away. On the way to the CG, we stopped at one of Greg's cousins house in Columbus, to drop off a few framed family photos. Had a nice visit with them. We then stopped in West Point, Ga to get a pizza from Karvelas for dinner, then headed to the CG. We were on site #36 this time.

It was on the lake but the view was a bit obstructed. Got a couple of nice sunset shots, one from the campsite & another from the lake bank.

The dogs behaved & we had a nice relaxing few days.

Note: Would book site #37 next trip .... better views & access to the lake is easier.

Hardridge Creek (COE) 3/19/26 - 3/22/26 (#29)

Well, I've gotten behind again. We went to Hardridge Creek (our go to) CG in March. First time camping with two dogs. It went well.

2nd trip in the new camper. We have a few issues & a few warranty items that we'll take to the dealer next month to get sorted out.

Stayed in our favorite site #69. This was the first weekend the park opened back up from Winter. New hosts & check in but it was a quiet & relaxing weekend.
