It Finally Produced!

I put two cut off & dried pineapple tops in one of my very shady beds in the city, about 8 or 10 years ago. I check them occasionally & remove any debris but no pineapple has ever grown in either one .... until now.

Woo hoo!

Good to know :) I've just successfully rooted two pineapple tops and will be planting them this Spring :) Question is, will I be around to see them fruit in 8 - 10 years time...? ;)

Hey Dani, My sister's MIL plants hers in pots in full sun & she gets fruit in about 2 years. Good luck!

What?!?! That is amazing! I had no idea they could grow in climates other than the most tropical. How cool!

Thank you Kymber. Can't wait to taste it.

My sister's MIL has grown them forever, in full sun, in pots. I just thought I had a cool looking plant that wouldn't do much.

Thanks Hot Flash. I am excited to taste it. As long as I can keep the squirrels away from it. Apparently they wait until just the right time to start nibbling on them.

I did this once but lost it in a freeze a year later. I need to try that again. I've heard that in full sun, they can produce in about 2 years. Congrats, I bet the taste will be AMAZING!
