Starting this blog in order to chronicle my journey to retirement. Live in a city house and will be retiring to a country house.
Currently working on gardening in the city in 3 small raised beds - tomatoes, carrots, peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, okra & lettuce. Other plants and herbs in various locations in the yard - cabbage in pots by compost bins and potatoes/chives/arugula in extra high raised beds.
Working on permanent beds at the country house. Will be tilling soil (hopefully the only till needed), putting in leaves, newspaper. cardboard & finally straw. Hope to get 3 10 x 4 beds done each weekend we are there.
Also going to try my hand at canning tomatoes this year. I have 3 plants of 8 different kinds. Will post as I harvest (crossing fingers).
Good to be here and will continue to follow (lurk around) on other's blogs, which I so enjoy. Although, it is very addicting.
Will try to post once a week and to keep most posts fairly short.
