Well he brought home a surprise for me last week!
My very own Ruger SR-22! We took her to the Country House this weekend & I got the chance to shoot this afternoon. On my first shot, I didn't have my left hand (thumb) back enough, so I got what I deserved, a slight scrape across the knuckle. Enough to make me remember that my left hand was there to support my right, not be involved in the actual firing. So I moved it down & continued to fire all 10 rounds in the magazine. She needs to be sighted in a bit but otherwise, I think I'm in love.
I already own a Ruger 10-22 rifle which I've shot a few times & feel very comfortable with.
This target pic is the first time I shot the rifle. Fired 30 rounds. The first shot is the upper & the next 29 are the big, bigger & bigger hole, in the middle. They called me "Dead Eye" all weekend after that.
Beginner's luck, hasn't happened again. But, you can call me Ruger Woman from here on out.

People shot pistols for hundreds of years before they decided that they needed to support it with a second hand. And the squared off approach to some degree comes with the introduction of light inexpensive bullet proof vests which had a hole through the arm sleeve, so you didn't want to use the more natural sideways finger pointing down the arm methods that previously had been popular since it left the unarmored shoulder pointing at whatever return shots were comming your way.
Nice handgun you have there. No one's going to mess with Ruger Woman, lol
Russell,
Justin uses the natural sideways method. I am not adept at that just yet & don't feel my wrist can handle, although I think it could (w/a .22 at least). I just need a lot more practice which I intend to do this winter.
Thank you for the lesson. I intend to learn to shoot w/one hand.
Thanks Sandy. I need a whole bunch of practice which I will get this winter!
I am planning on getting my license as well. Good for you!
Texan,
Thank you.
I must suggest that you get your license ASAP, just in case the current POTUS get's re-elected! You may not have the option in the near future.
Computers make great targets, lol
Mine did when it decided to die.
Hey Dead-eye Ruger Woman. Nice pistol. I did the skint knuckle thing with my glock when I first got it. I now have a bodyguard 380 which is much smaller that I trade out ever once in awhile depending on what I am wearing.
Thanks Mamma Bear. I hope to graduate to a 380 at some point.
Congratulations! My husband says I need my own. He's given me lessons on his but he doesn't think either his handguns or rifles are best for me. Certainly is a comfort to have handy.
