Back from Vacation to Cold Weather

We had a little mini vacation to bring in the New Year. We arrived in Cancun, Mexico on January 1st for a few days of sun, relaxation, food, drinks & more drinks. My husband met his quota from the warehouse he buys from & they treated us, along with about 50 other dealers, to a trip to Mexico. A little business (very little actually) mixed in with pleasure & relaxation.

I wasn't in the picture taking mood so you won't have to be bored looking through my vacation pics.

I read a lot, & relaxed a lot more. I had spa appointments & naps & food every 4 hours or so although the food wasn't that great. The place we stayed at was an all inclusive & we weren't expecting too much. It rained a couple of days but that didn't bother us at all. We pretty much stayed on resort property & took it easy. Even though Mexico isn't our favorite destination, overall it was a nice vacation.

Leigh I did get to start your book but I didn't make it all the way through, yet. Loving it so far, very organized & will definitely be a great reference book!

Anyway we came home to the South to very cold temps. It got down to around 19 degrees here last night. Not even 1/2 as cold as the rest of the nation but cold for us! The last time I remember it that cold was almost 10 years ago. Here are a few pics from then.

  1. Great pictures. I accompanied my husband on a work trip recently. While he worked I had a perfectly self indulgent time. Can't beat it.

    1. No ice here either, unless someone left the sprinkler on. These pics were from 2003.

  4. DFW,

A vacation compliments of hubby's company, now that's a nice benefit and great opportunity to start the new year.
We all are happy for you, the opportunity to get away from the cold. Temperatures are starting to warm up here. We've been in the single digits and now were up in the 40's. Expecting another storm to come through before the weekend when we heat up in the high 50's. Great pictures of the cold there, have the ice cycles started melting yet?

    1. Hey Sandy, these are old pics so no ice this time around. I've been watching your neck of the woods & wondering if you were staying warm. And yes, the vacation was great.

  5. Sounds like a great vacation! Coming back to our cold must have been a shock!

I'm so glad you're enjoying the book. I tried to make it narrative-like, but with a lot of information folks could come back to as needed. :)

  6. Welcome back to the Polar Vortex! :-) Ice is so beautiful to look at but, boy, do I hate dealing with it. Too bad you couldn't have stayed in Mexico for a while longer and avoided all this mess.

    1. Thanks CP! Yes, it would have been nice to stay a couple of extra days. However, there were many NE people that were forced to do just that because JetBlue cancelled so many flights. People were not happy & we were glad to get out of there while we could.

  9. Your vacation sounds wonderful! Those temps are getting to us too, this is just too cold for Georgia. No snow, just ice here. Not so great for getting down steps and driving. Glad it is over now!
